Just a few weeks after the launch of the Hessian Drone Competence Centre (HDCC), the Skill Training Centre has commenced its training programme.

On 22 July, eight participants completed the first training course for the EU drone categories A2/STS and successfully passed the course. The course combined digital preparation with face-to-face tuition and practical flight exercises at Kassel Airport. The HDCC’s first drone systems were already put to use during the course.

The Skill Training Centre is one of the HDCC’s four core areas of expertise. The aim is to translate new scientific findings and technological developments directly into training, education and exercises. This creates a seamless innovation process – from research through to testing and on to safe application.

„New technologies only realise their full potential when people are able to use them safely. That is why training has been one of the core tasks of the Hessian Drone Competence Centre right from the start,“ said Michèle Knodt, Director of the HDCC and Professor of Political Science at Technical University of Darmstadt.
