The Hessian Drone Competence Centre at Kassel Airport (HDCC) took part in INNODAY26 on 29 October at the Darmstadtium and was very well received by the audience. This was partly due to the drone that the team showcased at their exhibition stand. It served as a starting point for discussions about civilian drone research and questions such as: How can drones support the fire service, the police and civil protection? And how can critical infrastructure be protected from unauthorised drones?
Michèle Knodt, Director of the HDCC, Juliane Lehmann, Public Relations Officer; Robin Müller, Research Associate at the Institute of Flight Systems and Automatic Control; and Björn Scheuermann, Head of the Multimedia Communications / Communication Networks Labs demonstrated the HDCC’s research activities and the tests being carried out under real-world conditions at Kassel Airport. There, academics, businesses, public authorities and infrastructure operators are working together on practical applications.

„We are delighted by the great interest in our research. INNODAY offers a wonderful opportunity to explore questions, exchange ideas and make new contacts,“ said Michèle Knodt, Director of the HDCC.
TU President Tanja Brühl, Thomas Walther, Vice-President for Innovation and International Affairs, Szilárd Varga, Chief Executive Officer of Grünewald GmbH, and Harald Holzer, Managing Director of HIGHEST, also stopped by at the exhibition stand during their tour.
This year marked the tenth edition of INNODAY, which was held under the theme „Science.Startups.Future!“. More than 120 start-ups and innovation projects, along with 2,200 guests, attended this year’s innovation fair. The event is organised by HIGHEST, TU Darmstadt’s Innovation and Start-up Centre.
