Reliable situational awareness – a topic that links us, the Hessian Drone Competence Centre (HDCC), with the Hessian State Office for Land Management and Geoinformation (HLBG).
Dorota Iwaszczuk, Professor of Remote Sensing and Image Analysis at TU Darmstadt and Professor at the HDKZ, is conducting research into AI-based methods of image analysis in order to obtain reliable situational assessments quickly. She was invited to the HLBG’s summer party in August, where she discussed the HDKZ with Elnaz Rashidian from the HLBG, amongst other things. They also discussed possibilities for collaboration.
„It was a successful event that combined professional exchange with genuine hospitality, and provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with colleagues who share the same passion for geoinformation and surveying,“ said Dorota Iwaszczuk.
Information about the HLBG
The HLBG is part of the Hessian Agency for Land Management and Geoinformation (HVBG). The responsible ministry is the Hessian Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy, Transport, Housing and Rural Affairs (HMWVW).
The HVBG promotes the sustainable and environmentally sound development of rural and urban areas and, amongst other things, provides geodata – based on data from the state surveying service – as the foundation for numerous specialist information systems (e.g. in the fields of utilities and waste management, environmental information and transport). The HVBG is responsible for coordinating the Hesse Geodata Infrastructure (GDI-Hessen), through which geodata held in various locations can be utilised effectively.
